About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Supervisor to join our team at Olds Oasis Organic Inc. as a key member of our farm operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce Management: Oversee the division of fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots, ensuring optimal quality and quantity.
  • Crop Development: Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions, promoting healthy growth and maximizing yields.
  • Harvesting and Processing: Supervise the harvesting of seedlings, seed cutting, and other crop-related activities, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Soil Fertility and Bio-Security: Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures, maintaining a clean and healthy work environment.
  • Agricultural Services: Provide crop-related services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting, as required.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting laborers, ensuring effective teamwork and productivity.
  • Quality Control and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate quality control and production records, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Staff Management: Hire and train staff, ensuring a skilled and motivated team.
  • General Farm Duties: Perform general farm duties, including cutting horticultural crops, as required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, requiring strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical Demands: Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting, in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of farm operations.
Personal Qualities and Experience
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: Work effectively as a team player, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Experience: Possess 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of farm operations and management principles.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Work Schedule: Work a regular schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility to adapt to changing farm needs.
