Position Summary

The individual in this role will be accountable for the strategic oversight and advancement of value-added products and proprietary product lines. This position necessitates close collaboration with Procurement teams, Market Development, Agronomy, and Agricultural Innovation. The successful candidate will provide robust agronomic positioning, technical assistance, and confidence to stimulate demand generation within SGS Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for Simplot Grower Solutions to establish its proprietary product line, setting SGS Canada apart by offering unique solutions to clients.
  • Conduct thorough research to grasp regulatory requirements, market trends, customer demands, and the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with all SGS locations to inform, forecast, and enhance sales of focus products, proprietary offerings, and biological solutions while providing education and technical support.
  • Develop expertise in biological products to effectively select, support, and market these offerings.
  • Participate in grower events and collaborate with the Marketing team and Market Development Lead to execute timely product campaigns.
  • Drive sales for CPP & Seed focus products through both internal (AgProve) and external channels.
  • Work alongside Procurement Leads to ensure precise positioning of focus and proprietary products throughout the SGS Canada Business Unit.
  • Partner with the CPP & Seed Manager and Market Development Lead to assess new and existing products and identify strategic sourcing options for SGS Canada.
Essential Skills & Competencies
  • In-depth agronomic knowledge of Crop Protection products and their positioning for customer success in Western Canadian agriculture.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Western Canadian supply chain.
  • Proven sales acumen (grower or retail) with a history of achieving business growth objectives.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers to leverage SGS Canada's scale for profitable growth.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Agronomy/AgProve, AgInnovation, Sales & Operations) to extract data for resource development, business updates, and product training.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, capable of addressing both internal staff and external clients.
  • Lead the SGS Canada forecasting process for specific product lines and execute a strategic sourcing plan.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Agriculture is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in the CPP & Seed industry or Ag Retail.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% overnight, with additional daytime travel within the trade area.
Additional Information

This position is remote and will require travel to various SGS Canada locations.
