As a key member of our HR department, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day human resources and administrative duties associated with our Lachine plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administration:

  • Assist with the development and administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs, including facility safety.
  • Manage the administration of HR information systems, including payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and management, including responding to employee inquiries and resolving HR-related issues.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Assist with the recruitment process for hourly and salaried employees, including developing job postings, screening resumes, and conducting interviews.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new employees, including completing necessary paperwork and providing orientation.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of employee relations programs, including employee recognition and reward programs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees and management on HR-related issues, including conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including employee surveys and feedback mechanisms.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Assist with the administration of benefits programs, including health and dental insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
  • Develop and implement compensation programs, including salary and bonus structures.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of employee recognition and reward programs.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Develop and maintain HR-related reports and analytics, including employee turnover, time-to-hire, and other HR metrics.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of HR dashboards and other reporting tools.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Degree or GED
  • 3 years of HR experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree or CEGEP in HR, Business, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of HR leadership experience

Skills:

  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • Experience in workers compensation claim processing and legalities
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills

Language:

English/French

Work Environment:

Office environment with occasional travel to other Silgan locations
