Role Responsibilities: As a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Surgical Care Nurse operates as a proficient and autonomous practitioner. This role involves the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for designated patients.
Qualifications: Education, Training, and ExperienceMust possess registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
Completion of post-basic education in surgical or ambulatory care nursing specific to the unit is required, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
Recent relevant experience of up to two (2) years in a unit-specific context is preferred.
Certification in Basic Life Support, Level C is necessary.
Skills and Abilities- Utilize the nursing process as outlined in the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Exhibit strong organizational, problem-solving, and instructional capabilities.
- Demonstrate effective judgment, keen observation, and thorough patient assessment skills.
- Show empathy and tact in all interactions.
- Prioritize and manage patient care demands effectively.
- Operate necessary medical equipment proficiently.
- Maintain composure and respond suitably in high-pressure and emergency scenarios.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Promote positive public relations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Physically capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
