Community Corrections Officer

Position Overview
The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Probation Officer / Community Youth Worker. This permanent full-time position is situated within the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, which is committed to fostering a just and secure society.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with both adolescents and adults, addressing a wide range of diverse needs, gender differences, and cultural beliefs.
- Collaborate effectively with community organizations, governmental bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and finalize court documents, violation reports, and conduct community checks.
- Execute comprehensive home and community evaluations.
- Perform risk assessments and create tailored case management strategies.
- Design and implement targeted programming and interventions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and files.
- Support victims of criminal activities through appropriate channels.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in human services from an accredited institution, with fields of study including Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Human Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, or related disciplines. Candidates with relevant experience in correctional or human behavioral fields may also be considered. Degrees obtained outside of Canada must be assessed against Canadian educational standards.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of factors contributing to criminal behavior.
- Familiarity with intervention strategies, including cognitive behavioral approaches.
- Aware of systemic barriers impacting individuals and communities.
Additional Information
This role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential evening shifts, and involves travel. A valid driver's license is mandatory.
