About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Communications Consultant to join our team at the Government of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our Communications Branch, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing strategic communications plans to support the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety's activities and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage strategic communications plans to address programs and initiatives, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior ministry officials, ensuring alignment with the Ministry's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of communications projects, including composing and editing a variety of documents, such as articles, newsletters, web content, and graphic design.
  • Lead and coordinate external communication initiatives, including writing and editing news releases, briefing notes, speaking notes, and correspondence.
  • Plan and execute special events, including working with vendors, preparing materials, arranging speakers and sessions, and managing a budget.
  • Work independently and as part of the team to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate communication strategies and plans.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of communications theories, principles, and techniques.
  • A strong background in writing communication materials and strategies, including creating materials for traditional and digital audiences.
  • Experience using communications-related software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Analytics.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and assess broad issues in the context of the Ministry's impact.
  • Typically, the knowledge and competencies required for this position would be acquired through a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field of study, combined with several years of communications experience.
