About the Role

PCL is a leading construction company that builds the infrastructure and utilities that are essential to daily life. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to join our team in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Safety Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive project safety program, creating a safety culture that sets a high standard for the industry.
  • Pursuit of New Work: Lead the pursuit of new projects by participating in estimates, working with trade contractors, and participating in proposals and presentations.
  • Quality Management: Oversee the development and implementation of the quality management plan, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and a culture of quality.
  • Client Value Engineering: Understand client drivers and offer value engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and schedule benefits.
  • Project Performance Monitoring: Monitor project performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Team and Stakeholder Management: Manage project team, client representative, consultant, and trade contractor relationships.
  • Design Management: Monitor progress of the design, including compliance issues, quality, general coordination, constructability, and timing of deliverables.
  • Quality Audits: Assist the project team lead in obtaining a comprehensive design-management and design-quality plan and conduct periodic quality audits to ensure compliance.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Keep all parties informed of potential opportunities and challenges, and manage stakeholders' expectations through appropriate forms of communication.
Requirements
  • Education: Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive construction experience with multiple contract delivery types as a leader and mentor preferred.
  • Estimating Experience: Experience in estimating civil and infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Civil Infrastructure Experience: Experience managing civil-related structures and transit projects (Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail Transit, and railways), stations, and facilities.
  • Design-Build Experience: Design-build experience preferred.
  • Safety Culture: Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
  • Planning and Organizational Skills: Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
