Position Overview:

The University of Ottawa is seeking to appoint a regular faculty member within the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies, focusing on contemporary Indigenous issues. This role emphasizes expertise in areas such as Indigenous resistance, two-spirit and queer studies, decolonial critiques, and transnational perspectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Supervising graduate students.
  • Engaging in impactful research and community service.
  • Contributing to the development of Indigenous knowledge.
  • Participating in administrative duties within the department and faculty.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Indigenous Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in Indigenous resistance, two-spirit studies, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated research capabilities with a record of publications.
  • Ability to secure external funding and collaborate with community organizations.
  • Preference for candidates with established relationships with Indigenous communities.

Bilingualism Requirement:

As the University operates in both English and French, faculty members must demonstrate bilingual proficiency prior to tenure. Candidates not currently bilingual are encouraged to apply, as language training opportunities are available.
