Assistant Professor, Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies

Job Summary:

The Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill a regular faculty position in Indigenous Studies. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Indigenous resistance and/or resurgence, two-spirit and queer studies, decolonial and anti-colonial critiques, and/or transnational perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Supervision of graduate students
  • Sustained commitment to research and community service
  • Participation in administrative activities of the unit and the Faculty
Requirements:
  • PhD in Indigenous Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, or a related field
  • Expertise in one or more of the specified areas
  • Established and innovative research program, or potential for excellence
  • Ability to raise external funds and/or develop co-creative projects
  • Preference given to applicants with existing relationships to Indigenous nations, communities, and/or organizations
