Your Role at EXP

We are looking for a dedicated and technically skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Atlantic Canada. In this position, you will work from our Halifax office while benefiting from our flexible hybrid work model. Our investment in a modern office environment ensures a bright, collaborative, and technologically advanced workspace.

Regardless of your location, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with EXP's multidisciplinary team on some of the most exciting projects in the region. You may also engage in unique projects beyond Atlantic Canada.

Your Daily Responsibilities

  • Prepare necessary drawings, specifications, and reports for project delivery.
  • Design mechanical building systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and specialized systems.
  • Create detailed project-specific designs to clarify scope and assist with system coordination.
  • Conduct calculations for ductwork, piping, and equipment sizing, integrating these into technical drawings.
  • Coordinate with project team members to ensure comprehensive and accurate designs.
  • Maintain communication regarding project or design status with relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and REVIT for design drawing creation.
  • Conduct field investigations, including assessments and inspections.
  • Perform technical code reviews and calculations to support building systems designs.
  • Engage with clients and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support clients during the tendering and construction phases, including site inspections.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility for immediate registration.
  • Experience in preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems design and project management.
  • Familiarity with national building codes and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in REVIT/BIM is a significant advantage.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in energy modeling and efficiency projects is a plus.
