Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Audio Designer to join our team at Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. as a Concepteur·trice Sonore. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing high-quality sound design that enhances the gaming experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Audio Aesthetic: Collaborate with the audio director to define and develop the audio aesthetic of the game, ensuring it aligns with the project's creative vision.
  2. Implement Musical Direction: Work with the audio director to elaborate and implement the musical direction of the game, incorporating sound design and music to create an immersive experience.
  3. Sound Design and Implementation: Proactively identify audio challenges and create innovative solutions to achieve the highest quality sound, implementing and mixing all sound assets types in Wwise and Unreal 5.
  4. Sound Design Expertise: Stay up-to-date with cutting-edge sound design techniques and promote their use when beneficial to the game, ensuring the audio direction is realized through the use of the latest tools and technologies.
  5. Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate with outsourcers for sound design, voice, and music, and mentor junior sound design staff in realizing high-quality assets both artistically and technically.
  6. Quality Audio Advocacy: Advocate for quality audio to the entire team, ensuring that the game's sonic experience is elevated through the use of best-in-class sound design.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Proven experience as an Audio Designer on a AAA title, with a strong understanding of sound design, mixing, and music design.
  2. Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of audio game technologies and tools, proficiency with major DAWs, and expertise in at least one.
  3. 3D Audio Techniques: Proficiency with 3D audio techniques such as object-based mixing, ambisonics, and HRTF.
  4. Communication and Organization: Excellent ability to communicate effectively with all members of the development team and to organize and prioritize your own work.
  5. Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address audio challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Unreal Engine Experience: Knowledge and experience in Unreal 4 and/or 5, with a deep understanding of audio pipelines and performance constraints.
  2. Audio Systems: Experience in building and maintaining audio systems in a GAAS environment.
  3. Musical Training: Musical training, with a strong understanding of music theory and composition.
