Our department is unique within the network, performing advanced Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM) and other complex breast imaging procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, core biopsies, and breast seed localizations.

About the Medical Imaging Department:

As part of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging, Sinai Health's Medical Imaging Department offers a cutting-edge environment for leading clinical practices, educational initiatives, and research programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality breast imaging procedures using digital technology in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography and ultrasounds, along with breast interventional procedures.
  • Maintain ongoing digital quality assurance that adheres to mammography accreditation standards.
  • Exhibit respectful and effective communication with patients, caregivers, and team members.
  • Commit to continuing education that meets the standards of the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and hospital requirements.
  • Engage in related teaching and perform duties associated with the job classification as necessary.

Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and fulfillment of annual quality assurance requirements.
  • Successful completion of Mammography 1 and 2 certificates from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Over 15 hours of continuing education in Mammography within the last 3 years and a commitment to ongoing education that meets CAR and hospital standards.
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program within the last 12 months or current Level II: Basic Rescuer Certification.
  • Previous experience in Breast Imaging, demonstrating knowledge and proficiency in digital radiography.

Preferred:

  • Current membership with the CAMRT.
  • Experience in breast ultrasound.
  • Experience at an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) Facility, including OBSP digital quality control.
  • Experience at a CAR Mammography Accredited Facility and CAR Mammography approved membership.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and communicate respectfully within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong technical skills, ability to multitask, and sound judgment to ensure patient and team safety.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high-volume setting; flexible and adaptable to unexpected situations while maintaining excellent image quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate clinical documentation.
  • Proven ability to learn new skills, adapt to process changes, and assist in training new staff and students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook for effective email management and maintaining departmental communication.
