At Silgan Containers, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Coordinator to join our team in Lachine, Montreal. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day human resources and administrative duties associated with our Lachine plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administration:

  • Assist with the development and administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs, including facility safety.
  • Originate and lead HR practices and objectives that promote an employee-oriented, high-performance culture.

Recruitment and Hiring:

  • Manage the recruitment process for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct interviews and make recommendations for hiring decisions.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

  • Assist with the development of HR policies and procedures related to employee relations and safety.
  • Partner with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, and programs to employees.

Benefits Administration:

  • Provide day-to-day benefits administration services, including assisting employees with claim issues.
  • Develop and schedule benefits onboarding and complete open enrollment annually.

Plant Administrative Duties:

  • Meet and greet visitors to the plant, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls, and perform other administrative tasks as required.

Legal Compliance:

  • Comply with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements, including those related to CNESST and other government agencies.

Organization Development:

  • Assist with organization development initiatives, including succession planning, workforce development, and employee communication.

Requirements:

Education:

High School Degree or GED required; Bachelor's Degree or CEGEP in HR, Business, or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

3 years of HR experience required; 5+ years of HR leadership experience preferred.

Skills:

Must be bilingual (English/French); general knowledge of employment laws and practices; experience in workers' compensation claim processing and legalities; excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment; effective oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal and coaching skills; evidence of a high level of confidentiality; excellent organizational skills.
