Overview
As a pivotal member of the Coding team, this role provides essential leadership and expert guidance in Health Information Management coding practices. The Specialist ensures adherence to established standards and procedures while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives focused on coding accuracy and data integrity.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for coding staff.
- Act as a primary resource for coding standards and compliance.
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance coding practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduation from a recognized Health Information Management program.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient and surgical coding.
- Certification as a CHIM with an active membership in CHIMA.
Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.
- Proficient in using report writing tools and understanding coding standards.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on mentoring and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Duties
- Drive coding and data quality initiatives within the organization.
- Create training materials and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Implement and update coding standards as necessary.
- Contribute to ongoing data quality improvement and auditing processes.
