We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer with a strong track record to lead a team of seasoned professionals and technical specialists. The ideal candidate will oversee service quality within the unit, develop and implement strategies to ensure excellence in service delivery, and drive profitable growth to meet business objectives.

The Bridge team is engaged in the pursuit and execution of significant bridge and structure rehabilitation and design initiatives. In addition to guiding the team, you will leverage your expertise in bridge engineering and construction methodologies to manage and successfully deliver multidisciplinary projects, from initial planning through detailed design and into construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire, mentor, and cultivate a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting talent, setting clear objectives, and evaluating performance to ensure the team is skilled and motivated to achieve program goals.
  • Formulate and execute the business strategy for the unit, ensuring team members understand their roles in achieving these objectives through a supportive culture and clear communication.
  • Identify and engage potential clients by delivering exceptional service to foster organic revenue growth within the business unit.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients to comprehend their needs, ensuring satisfaction to enhance retention and drive revenue growth.
  • Guide and support team leaders to ensure project success and adherence to governance standards, ultimately improving client satisfaction.
  • Oversee the production and management of engineering deliverables for a variety of bridge rehabilitation and new design projects, ensuring they meet and exceed quality expectations.
  • Lead a team in defining project scopes, preparing budgets and schedules, planning tasks, and providing technical oversight.
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, along with comprehensive technical reports and design packages.
  • Offer technical engineering support during construction phases, including reviewing contractor submissions.
  • Conduct inspections of complex bridges and structures, coordinating inspection teams and providing recommendations for renewal and repair.
  • Lead successful project pursuits, including budget estimation and staffing planning, while crafting compelling proposals.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to CAD Designers, Drafters, and junior Engineers involved in various projects.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in bridge engineering design, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, and construction experience. Experience in seismic analysis and design is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to effectively mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta, or BC.
  • Proficiency with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6) and familiarity with relevant provincial standards.
  • Technical expertise in bridge engineering design and analysis principles.
  • Excellent skills in technical report writing.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and analysis software (CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil).
