About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Analytics Developer to join our Operational Excellence team at Warner Bros. Discovery. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement across our WBD Engineering community to ensure smooth and efficient operation, and the highest customer satisfaction.

As a data-centric, customer-obsessed, and highly motivated analytical performer, you will collaborate with multiple departments, including site reliability engineers, QoE Analysts, core media engineering, and customer experience teams to deliver streaming video that exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Video QoE Reliability Engineering team to improve root cause analysis, instrumentation, and reporting of Video Quality of Experience (QoE) metrics.
  • Champion data-driven decisions to improve and evolve video streaming performance for our customers, with a strong sense of ownership for the WBD Streaming Technology platforms.
  • Design, implement, and deliver complex data models to produce ongoing operational reporting, program reporting, and executive-level dashboards.
  • Analyze complex data sets using statistical techniques, build reports and dashboards tailored to the needs of engineering teams and senior leadership, and identify trends or patterns.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to drive prioritization of video quality and performance issue fixes by playback, CDN, and platform engineering teams.
  • Conduct industry benchmarking, create internal SLA targets, and support recommendations to influence business decisions and drive alignment across multiple departments.
  • Ensure video quality data governance and data accuracy by inspecting, cleansing, and performing quality checks.
  • Develop complex software roadmaps that will impact the entire streaming industry, and describe highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a way they can understand.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Computer Science, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in the areas of Data Science and Analytics, preferably in the Video Streaming technology space.
  • Experience with analytics engines and monitoring tools like Prometheus, OpenSearch, and proficiency with complex SQL and creation of database objects.
  • Solid understanding of statistical inference and applying statistical rigor to analyses.
  • Expertise in one or more reporting/visualization tools, such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Ability to think critically and analyze data trends for operational risks and efficiencies.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills, with a high sense of ownership, urgency, and proven ability to lead and influence.
  • Ability to produce deliverables according to schedule, adapt to changes in requirements and priorities, and show initiative.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with experience collaborating in hybrid remote/in-office teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Experience with media player technologies and knowledge of media encoding schemes and streaming protocols is highly desirable.
