Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable cost consultancy in Victoria, British Columbia. This position will focus on delivering precise estimates and comprehensive cost consultancy services across a diverse array of projects. The role offers a hybrid working model, allowing for remote work several days a week.
We are looking for a dedicated Quantity Surveyor who is eager to contribute to the company's long-term success.
Project Responsibilities
The Intermediate Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
- Creating construction cost estimates throughout various design and construction phases for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will possess PQS qualifications; however, we are also open to considering Junior Quantity Surveyors who are actively pursuing their PQS credentials.
This hybrid role will initially require more in-office presence to familiarize with company procedures before transitioning to a more flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing cost estimates from the feasibility stage through to pre-tender phases.
- Establishing unit cost rates based on first principles.
- Preparing and distributing reports to clients to substantiate cost estimates.
- Maintaining communication and correspondence with clients and design teams.
- Collaborating with the supply chain to gather cost data that supports estimates.
- Assisting in the analysis of change order reviews.
- Creating life cycle cost estimates.
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Consultant, Estimator, or similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with Blueline is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong command of English.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of construction estimates and the construction sector.
- Experience in performing cost and commercial functions.
- A genuine interest in contributing to the company's long-term vision.
- Ambition and character to grow both professionally and personally with the organization.
- A professional qualification in cost management or estimating is preferred, such as a degree in Quantity Surveying, cost estimating, or a Technical Diploma.
- Membership in a recognized professional body such as RICS, CIQS, PQS, or an equivalent is preferred.
