Job Title: Estimator

Job Summary:
TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is partnering with a leading manufacturer and distributor in the HVAC space to find a skilled Estimator for their Victoria branch. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for compiling and sending bids for tender requests and other quoting opportunities. You will also provide technical support for quoting, prepare proposals and bids for submission, and troubleshoot as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review incoming bids from the general email box
  • Complete take-offs and ensure accuracy
  • Continuously review the bid board and be aware of bid closing dates
  • Notify customers if we are unable to bid on a project
  • Identify specialty products that require additional time for pricing
  • Account for upcoming price increases
  • Complete accurate pricing using our vendor software
  • Review all addendums associated with a project
  • Clearly state what is included and not included on bids
  • Review mark-up strategy with the branch manager
  • Complete bids 24 hours prior to closing
  • Compile bid packages for sheet metal contractors and mechanical contractors
  • Support salespersons and project managers by assisting in processing change orders and site instructions
  • Take part in product training to stay updated
  • Provide value engineering if required
  • Communicate with sales teams to maintain market awareness
  • Provide outstanding customer service with a customer-first approach
  • Consistently improve the quality of service to meet client expectations and minimize costs
  • Self-educate and attend manufacturer factory/training visits to stay up-to-date on the latest product developments and software tools
  • Build sustainable customer relationships and trust through open communication
  • Represent the company at site meetings as required
  • Assist in customer events as required

Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience, with HVAC experience preferred but not required
  • University degree or college diploma is preferred, with relevant HVAC experience considered
  • Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, creative, and resourceful
  • Ready to bring positivity, energy, and enthusiasm to the workplace
  • Professional approach to business and the workplace
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure unsupervised
  • Strong work ethic guided by personal integrity and mutual respect
