Fund Operations Director

Wealthsimple is seeking a seasoned Fund Operations Director to lead our team in managing the operational functions related to our Alternative Investment Funds. As a key member of our Asset Management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of our funds.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Fund Operations team in managing the daily operational processes, ensuring accuracy of client and fund records.
- Collaborate with Asset Management, Compliance, Product, Trading, Tax, and R&D teams to develop and implement efficient fund operations processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with fund administrators, custodians, and transfer agents to ensure seamless fund operations.
- Consult with legal partners on contract review and negotiation with fund administrators and custodians.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize fund operations and reduce costs.
- Work with the Asset Manager to develop and implement fund creation and administration strategies.
- At least 10 years of experience in fund management or fund administration, with a focus on fund operations and compliance.
- Proven expertise in working with middle office and tax teams to develop policies and procedures.
- Subject matter expertise in fund creation, administration, and compliance, with experience working with custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors.
- Strong knowledge of Fundserv from a fund manufacturing and dealer perspective.
- Experience in setting up private funds and fund of funds, with a focus on liquidity measures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Google suite.
- Industry certifications such as CAIA, CSC, CFA, or CIM are an asset.
