Work Environment

This position is based in a garage setting, where you will be expected to:

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjust, repair, or replace components of commercial transport truck systems.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to identify faults and malfunctions.
  • Perform repairs on automotive systems and truck-trailer systems.
  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components as necessary.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Estimate parts and labor costs for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance services.
  • Provide advice to customers regarding work performed and future repair needs.
  • Complete reports documenting problems and work completed.
  • Coach and mentor apprentices in the field.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.
Certifications and Licenses

Required certifications include:

  • Tire, wheel, and rim mechanic certification
  • Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification
  • Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement
  • Driver's License (Class 3 or D)
Training and Safety

Candidates should have:

  • Pre-apprenticeship training
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and driving record check
  • Own transportation and a valid driver's license
