We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Hydrologist Project Manager at Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC). Our client is a leading conservation organization focused on hydrology and civil engineering.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead provincial dam safety efforts, contribute to dam safety reviews, and perform field work, including inspections. They will also lead the design, contract management, and cost estimation for wetland conservation infrastructure, including earthworks and water conveyance structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading provincial dam safety efforts and contributing to dam safety reviews
  • Performing field work, including inspections, and contributing to team resource management, long-range planning, and budgeting
  • Supervising a growing team of junior engineers and engineering technologists
  • Providing expert knowledge and leadership to the team in hydrotechnical and civil engineering
  • Contributing to team resource management, long-range planning, and budgeting with the provincial asset management team
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Civil, Environmental, or Geological Engineering degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrologic, hydraulic, water resources, geotechnical, or dam safety engineering, including experience with project design and construction.

They will also have strong planning, reporting, and project management skills, as well as the ability to conduct field work, including remote dam safety inspections by truck or ATV. A valid class 5 driver's license is also required.

Experience with Office 365, AutoDesk, HEC-RAS, HEC-SSP, HEC-HMS, and other hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software, GIS, or GeoStudio is considered an asset. Experience in the design of dams or earth berms, as well as dam safety, including Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Guidelines, and British Columbia Dam Safety Regulation, is also considered a strong asset.

The successful candidate will also have an affinity to the outdoors, conservation, and the world of waterfowl.
