About the Role

The Control Systems Specialist will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems that integrate multiple sub-systems to meet the operational and regulatory needs of our clients.

This role will involve developing and implementing logic for assigned project tasks, including requirements such as logic development and testing. The Control Systems Specialist will ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget, and will be coached/mentored by more experienced staff and report to a Technical Manager or Engineering Supervisor in the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control systems using PLC/HMI/SCADA programming languages
  • Create technical documentation, including control logic, test procedures, and user manuals
  • Program PLC/RTU systems using platforms such as Allen Bradley, Schneider, and SEL RTAC
  • Program HMI/SCADA systems using platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, and Kepware/Topserver
  • Supervise on-site commissioning and start-up of control systems
  • Take ownership of personal quality and ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget
Requirements
  • Two-year technical degree in a relevant field
  • 2-4 years of experience in industrial control systems, integration of robotics systems, or programming in a related field
  • Renewable energy industry exposure, including wind, PV, and BESS
  • Working knowledge of communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, etc.) and internet network architectures
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting priorities
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal/written communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Able to read engineering design drawings, including communication diagrams, logic diagrams, and network schematics
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SQL, Access)
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Willing to travel 25-35% of the time
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess a valid Canadian Driver's License and ability to meet company driving standards
  • Must have the ability to travel across the United States and Canada
