We are seeking a dedicated Accident Benefits Claims Specialist to join our team. This position involves managing the claims process related to both automobile incidents and accident benefits. The successful candidate will report directly to the Claims Manager and will play a crucial role in ensuring effective claims handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing and clarifying coverage details relevant to reported claims
  • Conducting thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiations, and settlements of total loss claims
  • Establishing liability for claims
  • Guiding clients through the claims process for both automobile and accident benefits
  • Collecting recorded statements from involved parties
  • Reviewing medical documentation and treatment plans
  • Verifying employment details as needed
  • Authorizing necessary treatments and coordinating billing with clients or providers
  • Communicating with medical professionals, legal representatives, treatment providers, employers, and clients
  • Arranging and requesting medical examinations and assessments
  • Documenting all activities related to claims and ensuring timely payment issuance
  • Collaborating with Brokers and Underwriters
  • Performing additional duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in claims adjusting, with at least 1 year focused on Accident Benefits preferred
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree, or progress towards a CIP/FCIP designation is advantageous
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to analyze data critically
  • Knowledge of auto insurance contracts and laws related to Accident Benefits coverage
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Understanding of common trauma types, their treatments, and recovery timelines
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy and the psychological effects of trauma is beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficient written and verbal communication abilities
