About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team at Walters Group. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting structural steel to meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble structural steel components using various welding techniques.
  • Operate overhead cranes and other equipment to move materials and components.
  • Lay out reference points and symbols on structural steel according to blueprints.
  • Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.
  • Ensure safe work practices and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in welding structural steel.
  • Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program in Metal Fabrication or Welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
