About This Role

Agnico Eagle is seeking a highly skilled Mine Superintendent to join our team. As a Mine Superintendent, you will play a critical role in overseeing all underground mining activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily underground operations to meet production targets, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor and adjust mine plans in coordination with technical services to optimize production and minimize costs.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Services, Maintenance, and Processing teams to align production goals with overall mine plans.
  • Manage inventory of mining supplies, explosives, and equipment to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators to track progress and drive performance.
  • Track and report on key metrics such as production volumes, development meters, and equipment utilization.
  • Maintain and develop technical management skills and knowledge.
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent, organize overall maintenance of mine equipment in a cost-effective manner.
  • Be visible in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground mining operations, with at least 5 years in a frontline supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment, and safety regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Ability to perform all duties of a Captain position.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
