Capital Assist (Valuation) is a leading, independent business and transaction advisory practice that provides a broad range of services, including business valuation, litigation support, transaction advisory, management consulting, and CFO services. We are a boutique advisory firm that serves clients across Canada, including private companies, publicly traded companies, governments, institutions, and their professional advisors.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Valuations Manager. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about finance, accounting, and law. As a Valuations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading the valuation and litigation practice of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:- Preparation and review of engagement proposals, and responsible for the engagement scope, framework, planning, and budgeting;
- Management of timelines, budgets, and workflow capacity planning;
- Preparation and oversight of information requests, and management of documents received;
- Lead team members in executing on and preparing client deliverables including identifying key issues, providing guidance on qualitative and quantitative analysis of accounting and various financial data, and making recommendations;
- Review financial, legal, and corporate documents;
- Preparation and review of schedules and buildout of models for valuations and economic loss quantifications;
- Conduct valuation-related research, including industry-specific information, macroeconomic data, precedent transactions, and public company valuation multiples;
- Review of case law for valuation and loss quantification precedence;
- Preparation, review, and execution of business valuation and expert reports;
- Review and critique other professionals' reports;
- Regular communication with the Partners and other professional staff regarding the overall file status and management;
- Communication with clients, and their counsel and advisors throughout the course of an assignment;
- Assistance with quality control review comprising of overviewing the preparation of completion documents;
- Participation in the development and delivery of training, process improvement, and professional development programs;
- Mentor, train, and assist in the development of professional staff;
- Proactively engage in new business and opportunities development promoting the firm's expertise and services.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related area of study;
- A Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) professional designation (or substantial completion) with 4+ years of relevant business valuation/litigation support related experience;
- 2+ years of managerial experience is strongly preferred;
- Other accounting and/or finance professional designations (CPA and/or CFA) would be an asset;
- Strong track record of personal growth, client relations, and service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and oversee the work of students and other junior practitioners;
- Ability to maintain professional composure in high-stress situations to meet deadlines;
- Solid investigative skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to analyze, understand, and interpret financial statements and other accounting data;
- Ability to coach and mentor junior practitioners;
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to write clear and concise reports and effectively present information;
- Ability to think creatively and provide practical solutions to complex problems;
- Detail-oriented, highly organized with exceptional documentation abilities;
- Ability to work well both autonomously and collaboratively;
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to be a team player;
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivated, and committed to professional growth;
- Demonstrates interest, enthusiasm, and ambition to grow as a leader;
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
