About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Architect to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Digital Platforms Division, you will be responsible for designing and implementing technical architecture for our organization's large-scale web presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Craft the technical architecture for the web channel, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Lead the implementation of architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement web technical solutions, leveraging cloud-based infrastructure and containerized software.
  • Develop strategic and operational targets, evaluating progress and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Undertake structured analysis of technical issues, translating analysis into technical designs that describe a solution.
  • Look for opportunities to collaborate and reuse components, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage a budget and contracts, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
Requirements
  • Experience building an enterprise-scale website, with a proven track record of architecting and implementing web technology.
  • Hands-on experience with containerized or cloud web software and infrastructure, including networking, routing, security, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborative relationships across various teams and levels of the organization.
  • Superior communication, interpersonal, and time management skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Able to maintain sound judgment and achieve results in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in leading change, managing risks, and ensuring the achievement of project objectives.
Assets
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methods, such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices that protect data and privacy.
  • Track record of modernizing aging systems while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices.
