Job Title: People and Culture Leader

The People and Culture Leader will play a key role in driving the success of Coast Hotels by providing strategic Human Resources support and leadership to the Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel team.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the hotel's leadership team to create a motivating and engaging work environment that aligns with Coast Hotels' values and culture.
  • Ensure Ambassadors deliver exceptional customer service by working with the hotel's leadership team to remove barriers and implement solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legislation and regulations, ensuring compliance and providing guidance to the team.
  • Connect People and Culture initiatives with other departments and areas of the hotel to drive business results.
  • Maintain a big-picture perspective, focusing on short- and long-term priorities.
  • Be visible and accessible, providing open access for Ambassadors to build rapport and discuss issues.
  • Use conflict resolution skills to empower Ambassadors to resolve issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Lives the Coast Values and reflects the brand in the community, participating in local events and fostering a positive reputation.
  • Provides expertise, support, and collaboration within a centralized model of human resources for multi-property needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resource (CPHR) Professional designation or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience, with 2-3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence leaders and peers.
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite; Proficiency with HRIS Systems and various technologies.
  • Knowledge of OH&S, Employment Standards, Human Rights, Labour Relations legislation and regulations.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills and conflict resolution skills to resolve issues within a functional area.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and situations.
  • Valid driver's license as there will be some travel required.
  • Not content with the status quo; driven to create positive change and growth.
  • Exemplifies Coast's core values and enjoys working in a culture of accountability.
