Job Summary

Cementation Canada is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of conveyor belts, including the services and utilities required for the conveyors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Commissioning: Install and commission conveyor belts, including services and utilities required for the conveyors.
  • Electrical Equipment Maintenance: Replace all required electrical equipment in a MCC room and reticulated power, plant air, and water lines along the length of the conveyor.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot equipment using testers and refer to wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Lockout Procedures: Isolate electrical power to equipment for others as required in accordance with the Project lockout procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Follow established procedures in shutting down and disassembling equipment, replacing damaged or worn parts, and reassembling and testing equipment to perform to required specifications.
  • Inspections: Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other trades personnel and crew members.
General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compliance: Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Team Safety: Fully support and actively participate in the team safety program based on culture and innovation.
  • Equipment Safety: Ensure that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used and communicated to the supervisor.
  • Communication: Work closely with other crew members to create and maintain a synergy required to accomplish the shift line-up in the cycle.
  • Risk Assessments: Develop applicable risk assessments, procedures, and work standards for all tasks.
  • Procedure Adherence: Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to, and complied with at all times for all such work.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
  • Safety Systems: Utilize all safety systems as specified within the site safety management system.
Pre-Employment Qualifications
  • Pre-Employment Testing: Pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
  • Criminal Record Check: Criminal Record Check (if applicable).
  • Journeyperson Certificate: Possess a valid Journeyperson Electrician Certificate.
  • Registration: Registered in Ontario as an Electrician considered an asset.
  • Common Core: Full Basic Underground Common Core an asset.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of work-related experience as a licensed Journeyperson Electrician.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • WHMIS: WHMIS.
  • Fall Arrest: Fall Arrest.
  • First Aid Certification: First Aid Certification.
  • Working at Heights: Working at Heights.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Strong aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Self-Directed: Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
  • Workload Prioritization: Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and ability to work with others.
  • MacLean Bolters Experience: Experience with repairs and preventative maintenance to MacLean Bolters, Scoops, Dump Trucks, and Jumbo's considered an asset.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System: Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management System is an asset.
