About the Role

The Laundry Attendant is a key member of our support services team at Retirement Concepts and West Coast Seniors Housing Management. As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for providing laundry services to residents and guests in accordance with our established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Process linens, drapes, and personal resident clothing, including collection and redistribution to appropriate locations.
  • Stock cupboards with clean linens as per quotas.
  • Wash, dry, sort, fold, and hang items.
  • Use labeling equipment to label and re-label residents' clothing to ensure name is clear and accurate.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including washers, dryers, and transport carts, based on established guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff through accident prevention, knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations, safe use of supplies and equipment, and reporting when repairs are necessary.
  • Keep work areas in an orderly, safe, and clean condition.
  • Utilize infection control procedures.
  • Recommend ordering of chemicals and facility linens.
  • Actively participate in orientation of new staff and attend and participate in community education programs.
  • Cross-trained to work within other areas of support services as required.
  • Required to work positively and collaboratively with all team members and supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • WHMIS Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate as applicable.
  • Food Safe Certificate an asset.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to operate related equipment and tasks related to the position. Also, must be free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
