About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Home Visitation Specialist to join our team at the YMCA of Northern Alberta. As a key member of our Home Visitation program, you will play a vital role in supporting families with children aged 0-18, providing them with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and screen families for participation in home visitation programs.
  • Provide individualized supportive counseling and advocacy, facilitating community placements and communicating progress within the team.
  • Work with families to enhance their parenting skills and create a safe, nurturing environment for their children.
  • Plan and implement programs within YMCA guidelines and contracted performance measures.
  • Research, develop, and acquire relevant program materials, manuals, and tools to meet group and individual learning needs.
  • Advocate for families in crisis, assist with problem-solving, and goal planning to increase their confidence in meeting their children's needs.
  • Maintain program administration systems and establish effective community relations.
  • Market and promote programs to achieve programmatic and financial targets.
Requirements
  • University degree in a Human Services field or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience working directly with vulnerable families.
  • Previous experience working with cultural groups, high-needs, and marginalized populations.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, clear driver's abstract, and access to a vehicle.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention/Enhanced Security check.
