Job Title: Clinician, Wound and Skin Care

Job Summary:

The Clinician, Wound and Skin Care is a key member of the Fraser Health team, responsible for providing expert consultation and clinical leadership in wound prevention and skin care management in Residential Care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of evidence-informed practice and education theory, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and consultation to staff and residents on wound prevention and skin care management
  • Develop and implement education programs for staff and residents on wound and skin care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and resolve resident and family issues related to wound and skin care
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities related to wound and skin care
  • Consult and collaborate with experts and other healthcare professionals to stay up-to-date on best practices in wound and skin care
Requirements:
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Completion of the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course or Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse Course
  • Three years' recent experience in Wound and Skin Care within a residential/geriatric care setting
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes
Skills and Abilities:
  • Clinical proficiency/expertise in wound and skin care
  • Ability to apply educational theories and evidence to teaching practices
  • Ability to establish educational priorities to meet identified program, organization, and learner needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to provide leadership and work direction in a coaching/mentoring role
Work Environment:

The Clinician, Wound and Skin Care will work in a variety of Residential Care settings throughout Fraser Health, providing consultation and clinical leadership to staff and residents. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work independently in an organized and self-directed manner.
