About the Role

The Systems Engineering team at Clearpath Robotics works closely with our Project Management Office to deliver business value to our end users, channel partners, and customers. As a Senior Systems Integration Specialist, you will design and integrate fleets of autonomous mobile robots and software at our customer facilities. You will also deliver training to our integration partners and end-users, and evaluate use cases to establish guidelines, standards, and best practices for how our products can be used by the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand customer requirements and ensure clarity of all requirements prior to detailed design;
  • Consult with applications engineering during the requirements and concept definition process; document and update requirements as needed;
  • Detailed design of AMR systems using our products to meet customer requirements, including workflow design, attachment design, map design, and development/modification of middle layer software logic using Ignition OPC/UA and/or PLC logic design and modification;
  • Design, develop, validate, and integrate middle layer software to interface between OTTO Fleet Manager API and any third-party automation systems in the facility (PLCs, WMS, ERP, MES systems);
  • Support the discrete event simulation process by verifying the validity of all inputs required for simulation and working with the customer and internal simulation team;
  • Author and execute acceptance test plans for validation of system functionality and performance;
  • Commission and integrate AMR systems at client facilities worldwide, including on-site deployment and integration with facility-side automation equipment;
  • Optimize system performance through analysis, simulation, and experimentation;
  • Project planning for deliverables and work packages owned;
  • Lead and support on-site deployment and integration of designed systems as required;
  • Communicate technical details and status to the customer and broader project team;
  • Consult with third-party solution providers, subcontractors, and integration partners on all of the above;
  • Deliver training to integration partners and end-users;
  • Consult with internal team members and integration partners on all of the above;
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware technical issues using internal tools available; solve new and challenging technical problems related to the above;
  • Support deployed solutions in operations at our customers' facilities in terms of continuous optimization activities, Tier 3, and on-call or backfill support to operational support functions.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Author new product requirements based on lessons learned from design and commissioning activities;
  • Work with the Systems Engineering team to improve project/department tools, processes, and working relationships with other departments;
  • Ability to travel for business within North America, Europe, and Asia; approximately 35-45% travel commitment over the year.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience;
  • 8+ years of experience commissioning and integrating industrial automated equipment or software that interfaces to the equipment;
  • College/university diploma or degree in an engineering, design, or industrial controls type of field;
  • Experience working directly with clients/end-users;
  • Strong planning and organization skills;
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written;
  • Self-motivated and organized with a keen eye for detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Linux;
  • Authoring and modifying software code (Python, C++, or other);
  • PLC design and integration experience;
  • Interpretation and design analysis of mechanical drawings and electrical schematics;
  • Bonus points for data analysis experience, authoring and modifying software code (Python, C++, or other), experience with inductive automation Ignition OPC/UA software, middle layer software design experience to enable multi-device/system integration within facility automation, experience with Rockwell FT Optix, and experience with Jira and Epicor.
