Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Brandt Developments Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Regina, Saskatchewan. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and approving mechanical engineering works, preparing reports, estimates, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and approve mechanical engineering works for new buildings and renovation projects
  • Develop and detail mechanical elements for all projects, including plans, technical details, and specifications
  • Lead the mechanical design team as required through projects
  • Review and investigate preliminary engineering options during the planning and schematic design process
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and ensure project deliverables meet Brandt's standards
  • Prepare cost estimates, tender contract documents, and engineering reports
  • Develop conceptual and detailed design calculations, layouts, sketches, and specifications that meet Brandt's needs and comply with sound engineering practices and standards
  • Investigate field and design problems and prepare reports
  • Review, evaluate, and improve upon engineering designs, drafting, schematics, and specifications
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations as required
  • Prepare Revit/AutoCAD drawings for mechanical systems, including layouts, schematics, and construction details
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, and contractors to ensure project success
  • Complete site inspections during the construction phase and coordinate follow-up on project issues
  • Perform contract administration duties, including attending meetings, travel as required, submittal reviews, supplemental instructions, price requests, site inspection reports, meeting minutes, and all other aspects of the project
  • Collaborate with other internal design departments to ensure project success
  • Project cost monitoring and schedule control as requested
  • Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Plumbing Code, Gas Code, NFPA, and industry practice and regulations/applicable codes having jurisdiction
  • Knowledge of Energy Code requirements and building energy modeling software for submission
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD software is required
  • LEED AP certification would be an asset
Requirements:
  • Must have experience with AutoDesk Revit and AutoCAD software
  • 8+ years of experience in a consulting office preferred
  • Must have a Mechanical or Industrial System Engineering degree
  • Must be licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan
  • Candidates will be required to work on multiple projects and collaborate with a team of architects, engineers, and technologists
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a drive to succeed in a positive environment
