Typical Responsibilities

This role allows for a hybrid work model, combining remote work with field activities during initial site assessments and contractor follow-ups.

  • Lead projects from conception to completion, utilizing your technical and professional engineering expertise.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers within the mechanical team.
  • Design, model, and coordinate various mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection.
  • Conduct technical calculations and utilize software for heating/cooling, ventilation, and drainage load assessments.
  • Prepare engineering studies and reports to support project objectives.
  • Create detailed drawings using Revit or AutoCAD software.
  • Compile and prepare project specifications.
  • Engage with clients and collaborate with other consultants to ensure project success.
  • Adhere to deadlines and coordinate efforts with other disciplines.
  • Review contractor submissions and respond to inquiries during the construction phase.
  • Manage contract administration tasks, including change notices and payment certificates.
  • Conduct site surveys and routine inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Experience with healthcare facility projects is essential.
  3. Professional Engineer registration with APEGS is required.
  4. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage fluctuating workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  7. Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD is advantageous.
  8. Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  9. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as the National Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, and CSA Z317.
