Urban Nature Store – Retail Operations Manager

Calling All Nature and Birding Aficionados

We are on the lookout for a driven and detail-oriented individual to step into the role of Retail Operations Manager at our latest location. The ideal candidate will undergo training at one of our existing stores, preparing for a successful launch of our new outlet.

Our attractive compensation package includes a base salary complemented by performance bonuses and sales commissions for top achievers. The starting wage is set at $18 per hour, with additional opportunities for uncapped earnings through bonuses and commissions for those who excel.

Urban Nature Store stands at the forefront of the Wild Birding sector, providing our clientele with expert advice and a diverse selection of premium wild bird products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering exceptional customer service in a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Leading by example through proficient sales techniques and comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Overseeing in-store merchandising and ensuring the store's overall aesthetic is maintained.
  • Managing product deliveries and ensuring effective inventory management.
  • Accurately processing all sales transactions and maintaining cash accountability at the register.
  • Training team members on the POS system and company protocols.
  • Implementing the company's monthly marketing strategies.
  • Developing localized marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborating with management and team members.
  • Maintaining daily performance records and reports.
  • Creating the monthly staffing roster.
  • Submitting payroll and bonus reports bi-monthly.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail or service management.
  • Passion for wild birding, including feeding, photographing, and maintaining a birding journal, is a plus.
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Ability to design and maintain visually appealing merchandising displays.
  • Proficient in Google Sheets and capable of managing data across multiple spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with Excel and other productivity tools.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Basic mathematical skills relevant to retail transactions.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly with POS systems.
  • Capability to lift 50 lb bags repeatedly.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
  • Enthusiasm for independent research, learning, and personal development.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
