Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Great Canadian Entertainment. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting our assets and ensuring the safety of our guests and team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
  • Enforce restricted access to unauthorized persons.
  • Observe transactions, slot drops, and chip fills, and transfer items to Lost & Found.
  • Perform identification checks on guests under 30.
  • Refer disputes to the Security Supervisor.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the property.
  • Escort guests and team members.
  • Perform crowd control as directed.
  • Attend to first aid incidents.
  • Assist the Security Supervisor with enrolling guests in the Self-Exclusion program.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education an asset.
  • Two years of experience working with the public in a service role or in the service industry.
  • Previous experience or training in security an asset.

Certifications and Skills

  • First Aid/CPR and Responsible Beverage certifications required.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Gaming Registration within the applicable province.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Inquisitive and investigative mind, able to identify suspicious behaviors/transactions and make sound judgments.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Able to organize data with great accuracy.
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation an asset.
  • Self-motivator with the ability to inspire other team members to enhance the guest experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times.

Work Environment

Fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Exposure to some conflict, distress, and noise. The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, including non-traditional work hours, including evening or weekend shifts.

Compliance Requirements

  • Every team member must comply with all requirements of the Corporate Ethics & Conduct Manual and with all other corporate policies communicated to the employee.
  • Every team member will be familiarized with the business process documentation and internal control objectives related to their position, and how their job description aligns with specific internal control activities for which they are responsible.
  • Adhering to all company and regulatory policies as they relate to functions of the position.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

Permanent employment may be dependent upon the authorization and continued approval of the Provincial Regulatory Bodies. New employees will complete an application and will begin work after regulatory approval is granted. Existing team members will reapply as necessary, and continuing work will be dependent upon successful reapplication. For positions that require additional certification, the appropriate level of certification will be maintained.
