Sessional Instructor: History of Political Thought

OCAD University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach a course on the History of Political Thought in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Course Description:This course introduces students to key concepts and debates in political thought, with a focus on Canadian politics. Students will explore classical definitions of the political, conservatism and liberalism, socialism, anarchism, and communism, as well as issues such as decolonization, feminist challenges to patriarchal power, and the nation-to-nation relationship between the federal government and indigenous peoples.
Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, critiques, and evaluations
- Teach and assess student learning, including mid-term and final evaluations
- Meet academic and curricular requirements and deadlines
- Terminal degree in art, design, or relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level, or equivalent relevant experience
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment
Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts. Compensation includes a per-course pay scale, plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, as per the Employment Standards Act.
