The salary range for this position is $62,239 to $89,469. Interior Health determines salaries within this range based on the applicant's qualifications, experience, and an internal equity review of existing employee salaries.

Impact of the Role

In alignment with the organization's established vision and values, the Strategic Business Advisor (SBA) plays a crucial role in assisting programs as they engage contractors for various client services, including mental health and substance use, home and community care services, and public health promotion and prevention initiatives. The SBA will leverage a computerized database to conduct research, generate reports, and comprehend public sector procurement guidelines. Responsibilities include collaborating with user departments on contracting needs, facilitating contractor meetings, drafting contract documents, and analyzing financial reports. The SBA may also prepare procurement documents for diverse services using word processing and spreadsheet software, alongside knowledge of the BC Bid process. Additionally, the SBA contributes to the formulation of policies and procedures and aids in the termination policy and process. A comprehensive understanding of contract management and procurement processes is essential, as the SBA serves as a bridge between operational contract processes and the strategic objectives of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists Consultants in reviewing and developing contract processes to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Advises IH Managers on the strategic ramifications of contractual decisions and appropriate actions regarding procurement and termination policies.
  • Produces and conducts preliminary analysis of strategic reports as required by Consultants, Managers, and/or Directors.
  • Provides administrative and data support to Consultants, Managers, and/or Directors in project-related tasks.
  • Monitors contract compliance processes, including data collection, validation, and management.
  • Assists Consultants in creating training materials and policies.
  • Supports Consultants, Managers, and/or Directors with information for RFP evaluations and new contract negotiations.
  • Facilitates relationships among Consultants, Managers, Directors, and partners on strategic matters.
  • Offers backup support to Contract Advisors as needed.
  • In accordance with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees must adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and attend all required training. Employees are responsible for reporting any identified hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to their manager or supervisor immediately.
