The Youth in Transition Branch is seeking a Policy and Practice Specialist to oversee specific policy and practice related to Youth in Transition, while also supporting the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) policy and practice specialists. Reporting to the Manager of Youth Strategies & TAP Centralized Services and Supports, this role will collaborate with specialized corporate roles within the Youth in Transition branch to ensure consistent provincial policy, practice, and program delivery.

The Policy and Practice Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of Youth in Transition policies and practices in collaboration with TAP Policy and Practice Specialists. This role supports the existing TAP policy/practice cycle and processes, and works in partnership with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and ministry directives.

The ideal candidate will conduct and lead research as necessary to support large-scale provincial initiatives and review historical and current matters at a provincial level to inform policy and practice adjustments or the creation of new policies and practices.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A university degree in a relevant field, accompanied by four years of progressively responsible experience.

Equivalency: Relevant education or experience may be considered based on:

  • 1 year of education for each year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for each year of education.

Assets:

  • Experience in policy and/or program development and collaborating with diverse teams to achieve objectives.
  • Familiarity with policy development within the Youth in Transition Branch.

Role Requirements:

  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful applicants must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) as per the Health Professions Act.
