Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store General Manager to join our team. As a Store General Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of sales associates and ensuring the overall success of the store. Your primary focus will be on driving sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction by creating exceptional customer experiences and developing a strong selling culture within the store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and Service:
    • Facilitate exceptional customer experiences by providing personalized service and ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience.
    • Coach the team on service behaviors and business results to ensure that sales associates are equipped to meet customer needs and achieve sales goals.
    • Maintain optimal staffing and scheduling to ensure that the store is adequately staffed during peak periods.
    • Provide leadership and communicate effectively with sales associates to ensure that they are aware of sales goals, promotions, and company initiatives.
    • Respond to customer feedback and maintain KPI standards to ensure that customer satisfaction is consistently high.
  • Associate and Team Development:
    • Recruit, select, train, and retain high-performing sales associates and managers to ensure that the store has a strong and motivated team.
    • Communicate goals and provide leadership to inspire total associate commitment and ensure that sales associates are aware of their role in achieving sales goals.
    • Provide development opportunities for sales associates to enhance their skills and knowledge and ensure that they are equipped to meet customer needs.
    • Write and conduct annual performance evaluations to ensure that sales associates are held accountable for their performance.
    • Coordinate all candidate and new hire processes to ensure that new sales associates are properly trained and integrated into the team.
  • Merchandising:
    • Ensure that the store appearance and visual standards are consistent with the company's brand image by maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
    • Communicate business trends to the Regional Director to ensure that the company is aware of market conditions and can make informed decisions.
  • Leadership:
    • Assist in recruitment, interview, and final selection of department associates to ensure that the store has a strong and motivated team.
    • Assist in training associates on various aspects of the job to ensure that they are equipped to meet customer needs.
    • Participate in annual performance evaluations for department associates to ensure that they are held accountable for their performance.
    • Execute disciplinary procedures fairly and document corrective action to ensure that sales associates are held accountable for their behavior.
    • Create training schedules for new hires to ensure that they are properly trained and integrated into the team.
  • Operations:
    • Manage resources to maximize financial goals by ensuring that the store is adequately staffed and that sales associates are equipped to meet customer needs.
    • Foster knowledge and integrity with regard to compliance with company policy to ensure that sales associates are aware of company policies and procedures.
    • Educate team on operational integrity and its impact to ensure that sales associates understand the importance of maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
    • Oversee store cleaning, maintenance, and inventory to ensure that the store is well-maintained and that inventory levels are accurate.
    • Ensure training regarding LP and safety standards to ensure that sales associates are aware of company policies and procedures.
    • Protect company assets by ensuring that inventory is accurate and that proper receiving standards are followed.
    • Confirm refunds, update store security system, and conduct monthly alarm sensor testing to ensure that the store is secure and that customer data is protected.
    • Follow proper closing procedures and lock down to ensure that the store is secure and that customer data is protected.
    • Work with Loss Prevention on possible theft/shrink issues to ensure that the store is secure and that customer data is protected.
    • Other duties as required:
    • Special projects, department responsibilities, stretch assignments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of college or university degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of management experience in big box retail.
  • Knowledge of POS and inventory management systems.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate others.
  • Proficiency in basic computer use.

Work Hours:

  • Varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
