About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention and Control Specialist to join our Clinical Services Team at Shannex Incorporated. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and revise IPAC policies and procedures, including outbreak management protocols and pandemic plans.
  • Research and recommend evidence-based IPAC practices and innovations.
  • Provide clinical support, advice, and education on all aspects of IPAC to employees, students, and volunteers to protect and enhance resident/patient/client and employee safety.
  • Monitor and analyze findings and trends related to legislative requirements, quality indicators, and outcomes, and identify and action opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct surveillance to identify risk factors, monitor trends, and prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases and outbreaks.
  • Provide guidance on surveillance, testing, and contact tracing associated with infectious disease outbreaks at our communities, in partnership with local public health units.
  • Make recommendations for appropriate selection and usage of products and equipment related to cleaning, antisepsis, disinfection, and sterilization, building design, and construction.
  • Oversee the emergency stockpile inventory for the organization, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and other critical supplies required in an outbreak.
  • Lead planning, work, and commissioning for construction and renovation projects from an IPAC perspective.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in IPAC. You will have a baccalaureate degree in a health-related field or be a Regulated Health Professional in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body. You will also have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in healthcare in an IPAC lead capacity, and be certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
