Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Loss Control Specialist to join our team at Verisk. As a Loss Control Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing residential properties to identify potential risks and hazards. Your expertise will help us provide valuable insights to our clients, enabling them to make informed decisions about their properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments with clients to conduct on-site assessments of residential properties.
  • Travel to properties, tour, and assess for risk features, taking photographs and measurements as necessary.
  • Review property features, including fire prevention systems, heating equipment, and fuel storage tanks.
  • Assess building construction, electrical, heating systems, and plumbing installations to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Identify and report on structural defects, fire hazards, and other safety threats.
  • Prepare detailed reports using our internal systems, including risk assessments and replacement cost values.
Requirements
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.
  • Self-initiative, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Well-organized and thorough, with a curious and inquisitive nature.
  • Education in insurance, construction, home inspections, real estate appraisals, or engineering is an asset.
  • Experience with building codes, residential construction, and building restoration is required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including database management, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is a must.
Work Environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and remotely, with extensive travel within a region.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
