The MA Leadership Student Advisor provides high-touch care and support to MA Leadership students, from onboarding to graduation. This role is primarily student-focused and interactive, with some administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and support to MA Leadership students throughout their program, including pre-arrival, orientation, and graduation.
- Offer one-on-one support for students regarding their workload, life balance, and academic transition needs.
- Respond to student inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Monitor student progress and ensure students follow their Personal Learning Plan through to graduation.
- Care for students who require additional academic support.
- Act as a mentor to MA Leadership students during their time in the program.
- Refer students to relevant university services as needed.
- Support students experiencing academic or personal distress.
- Facilitate small group discussions on topics such as study strategies, self-management, and cultural expectations.
- Participate in Orientation activities and assist new students as they adjust to their new environment.
- Liaise with related offices, including the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and TWU GLOBAL.
- Liaise with MA Leadership professors and Writing Coaches.
- Assist the Associate Dean, MA Leadership or designate.
- Track and manage cohort lists as assigned by the Associate Dean, MA Leadership or designate.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft software, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- People-oriented, caring, and willing to work with students from diverse cultures.
- Detailed-oriented and organized.
- Collaborative with the Advisory team to deliver results.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
- Professional in communication and behavior.
- Able to learn and follow policies and procedures.
- Able to work independently and ask for help when needed.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and respect student privacy.
- Driven and inspired by the idea of positively impacting the various marketplaces of life through the development of godly Christian leaders.
- A dedicated and mature evangelical Christian with an earnest desire to serve in family, church, work, and community.
- Affirm and support TWU's mission, values, Statement of Faith, and Community Covenant.
- Strength of character and reputation, integrity, focused.
- A winsome personality with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in education or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in academic advising or related experience required.
- Experience working with international students and understanding cultural diversity is preferred.
- Experience working one-on-one with students is preferred.
