Are you an enthusiastic advocate for safety with expertise in managing hazardous substances and ensuring regulatory adherence? We are seeking a dedicated WHMIS Coordinator.

In this role, you will report to the Health & Safety Manager and play a crucial part in guiding academic and operational units on the secure handling of hazardous materials. Your responsibilities will include supporting compliance with the mandated Workplace Hazardous Material Information System and the National Fire Code of Canada. You will provide advice, recommendations, and ensure that all legislative and regulatory standards are upheld concerning WHMIS, inventory management, and the safe storage and transportation of chemicals across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Education and Training: Deliver training programs to the university community regarding WHMIS and chemical safety.
  • Health and Safety Initiatives: Implement strategies that promote a safe and healthy working and learning environment.
  • Emergency Response: Act as a key responder to emergencies, particularly those involving laboratory activities and hazardous materials.
