In this position, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding a secure workplace for our team members. Your primary responsibilities will focus on advancing the safety ethos within our organization by maintaining our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Management System. This will involve designing and implementing a variety of initiatives, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will also participate in audits and uphold safety certifications such as the Safety Certificate of Recognition ('COR').
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulate, execute, and sustain safety initiatives, policies, and procedures to guarantee adherence to regulations.
- Provide support and expertise to management and staff regarding health and safety matters.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments to identify workplace risks, evaluate hazards, and implement necessary corrective measures.
- Examine accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine underlying causes and recommend preventive strategies.
- Oversee and engage in Occupational Health and Safety Committee activities.
- Facilitate internal health and safety orientations for new hires and lead additional training sessions.
- Collaborate with various teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
If you possess the following qualifications, we encourage you to consider this opportunity:
- A post-secondary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Possession of or progress towards a CRSP designation is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety capacity.
- Familiarity with the COR audit process is advantageous.
- Proficient in using essential office software and tools, including MS Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of compliance with safety regulations and the implementation of relevant policies and practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities for effective hazard identification and risk evaluation.
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations appropriately.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check throughout employment.
