Northwest Territories, Canada Anglo American De Beers Group Full time

Company Overview

Join our dynamic team that drives success.

As a premier diamond enterprise, we are dedicated to fostering vibrant local communities, safeguarding the environment, and empowering women and girls, all while committed to our vision of Building Forever.

If you are motivated by ambitious goals, excel in decision-making for excellence, and appreciate the backing of top-tier professionals, we invite you to explore this opportunity.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Reliability Engineering Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer's primary focus is to enhance the dependability of mobile machinery and pinpoint risks that may negatively impact operational efficiency. This reliability is attained through the application of reliability engineering principles within the Asset Management (AM) framework, alongside thorough and systematic evaluations of physical failures, asset conditions, and component reliability data. The Reliability Engineer also plays a crucial role in developing business cases to advocate for or assess improvement proposals, grounded in asset life cycle costs and the potential benefits of enhancements. This position serves as a technical consultant and support for the mobile equipment maintenance team. The environment is fast-paced, requiring a results-oriented technical professional who can align with business needs while learning from experiences and guiding others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Asset Management: Formulate and execute strategies for the reliability and optimization of mining machinery and assets, including hydraulic shovels, haul trucks, dozers, graders, and rock drills.
  • Reliability Analysis: Assess asset criticality and conduct reliability analyses on essential equipment to uncover failure modes, root causes, and areas for enhancement using methodologies such as FMEA and RCM.
  • Condition Monitoring: Develop and manage condition monitoring initiatives to evaluate equipment health and performance through techniques like vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Data Analysis: Examine data from monitoring systems and historical maintenance records to identify trends and optimization opportunities, leveraging data-driven insights for maintenance strategies and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintenance Strategy Development: Create and refine preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability and minimize unexpected downtime.
  • Defect Elimination and Root Cause Analysis: Coordinate defect elimination efforts on-site to devise engineering solutions for recurring failures, including leading investigations and collaborating with cross-functional teams for sustainable solutions.
  • Reliability Improvement Projects: Lead or engage in projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and performance, working closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain precise records of reliability activities, including maintenance procedures and performance metrics, and prepare reports to communicate key indicators to stakeholders.
  • RAM Analysis: Support new equipment acquisition from an operational readiness perspective and conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability analyses.
  • Risk and Bottleneck Mitigation: Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to identify and address overarching risks and bottlenecks.

Work Schedule: This position is site-based, operating on a rotation schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Four years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering focused on mining equipment.
  • Proficient in reliability analysis techniques such as FMEA, RCM, and RCA.
  • Experience with condition monitoring technologies.
  • Skilled in data and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in the mining sector.
