Position Overview

As a representative of the hotel, your role is to deliver exceptional service that embodies the high standards of Fairmont Royal York while welcoming, seating, and serving guests. You will be the first and last point of contact for guests during their dining experience, making your professionalism vital in reflecting the restaurant's service excellence.

  • Arrive on time, dressed in full uniform, adhering to grooming standards.
  • Provide consistent, friendly, and personalized service.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the menu offerings and any special promotions.
  • Keep the host stand organized and presentable at all times.
  • Understand daily responsibilities, including seating guests, managing reservations, and handling inquiries.
  • Track dining room covers efficiently and be aware of union agreements.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings to foster communication among staff.
  • Engage in health and safety protocols to minimize workplace accidents.
  • Familiarize yourself with hotel policies and departmental standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Assist with various operational tasks as directed by your supervisor.
  • Share insights and suggestions for enhancing restaurant operations and guest experiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
  • Communicate with servers regarding reservations, changes, and special requests.
  • Offer coat check services when necessary and retrieve coats for departing guests.
  • Comply with all hygiene and safety standards.
  • Follow alcohol handling procedures and departmental standards.
  • Be available for weekend, holiday, and shift work as required.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or food and beverage environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume setting.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Physical Requirements

The role involves:

  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 30 lbs.
  • Regular kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, and ramps.
