CB Canada is seeking a Lead Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role involves collaborating closely with clients and delivering a comprehensive suite of pre-construction services throughout the design and estimation phases.
As a Lead Estimator, you will possess extensive knowledge across various construction methodologies and will be adept at evaluating projects from multiple angles. You will guide a dedicated pre-construction team, emphasizing collaboration and innovation. This position operates with a degree of autonomy under the guidance of the Chief Estimator or Department Head.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize your previous experience and network to formulate a strategy and lead estimates for diverse project sizes and types.
- Conduct thorough reviews of final estimate packages to ensure precision and completeness before formal submission.
- Maintain awareness of the subcontractor market; proactively identify opportunities and strategize accordingly.
- Engage with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to establish advantageous positions during award negotiations.
- Stay in touch with Project Managers during the execution of successful bids to gather real-time insights on bidding challenges.
- Mentor and nurture team members to enhance productivity, creativity, and teamwork.
- Develop potential bidding strategies for both negotiated and competitive tender projects.
- Possess the expertise to create preliminary budget estimates for review by the department head or other internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and participate in client presentations, including final negotiations.
- Over 10 years of experience in construction estimation.
- Ability to interpret and understand the implications of specifications and general conditions.
- Familiarity with insurance and bonding requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials and techniques.
- Understanding of the effects of various bidding methods and types of contracts.
- Capability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks within a project (exclusions, clarifications, and price adjustments).
- Innovative mindset to develop new processes and ideas to enhance departmental efficiency.
- Engage in additional assignments and research to expand personal and departmental knowledge.
