About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Specialist to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct healthcare services to clients, including physical, addiction, and psychiatric assessments, and administer prescribed treatments and medications according to protocols.
  • Observe, monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and perform a variety of healthcare interventions utilizing nursing skills and medical equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, clients, family, and community to identify and resolve health issues, cultural and language barriers, and coordination and integration of care.
  • Maintain accurate computerized and paper records in accordance with established procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two years' recent experience providing acute or community health nursing care/services to clients who have concurrent psychiatric and/or substance abuse/misuse disorders.
  • Working knowledge of community health nursing theory, including mental health and addictions, communicable diseases, and practice within a client/family-centered approach.
  • Working knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
  • Knowledge of the BC Mental Health Act, other facilities, and community resources.
